What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic Medicine goes back thousands of years ago and draws on the healing knowledge of many different cultures around the world. It’s the medicine that was practiced long before surgery and prescription medication and it is the medicine of our grand parents, great-grand parents, great great grand-parents and so on.
It believes in the healing power of nature and the body’s ability to heal itself if given the proper support. In the United States, the actual healthcare designation of ‘Naturopathic Physician’ is only about 100 years old but the medicine itself is much older.
The scope of practice includes: nutrition, botanical medicine, physical medicine, homeopathy, physical and clinical diagnosis, laboratory diagnosis and diagnostic imaging, lifestyle education and pharmaceutical medicine.
More than merely relieving symptoms, Naturopathic Physicians use these numerous modalities to really find the root cause of the problem.
